What is Community Supported Agriculture?
Community Supported Agriculture is becoming increasingly popular as a way for people to get access to fresh, local produce. First, the consumer signs up with the local farm of their choice. Then, each week a box of seasonal produce arrives at their doorstep or at a nearby pickup location. It is a great way to support local farmers, eat more in-season vegetables, and become acquainted with new foods. There is often the opportunity to visit the farm where the produce comes from and get to know the person growing one’s food. Some CSAs will include beans, bread, eggs, dairy, or meat in their boxes, and others combine produce from multiple local farms. Want to find one near you?
