Eat Locally and In Season This Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is a surprisingly easy time of year to incorporate local, in-season foods, as well as a great opportunity to show family and friends how delicious and simple eating locally can be. Have a small garden? Try to incorporate some of your herbs or produce into a Thanksgiving dish. Many of the foods we associate with this holiday are in fact seasonal fall foods—you may be surprised to discover that many of the foods you already have planned for the feast are actually in season. Curious to know what fruits and veggies are being harvested this time of year? Visit your local farmers market to find the freshest produce around for your Thanksgiving meal.
P.S. If you are not sure where the nearest farmers market is located, check out the database at LocalHarvest.org.
