Mesquite Walkabout in Phoenix

Saturday, June 25th at 8 am.

Join Peggy Sue Sorensen and Mike Clow as they take you on a walking tour of the mesquite trees in Granada Park.

You  will see, smell, touch, and taste mesquite trees and beans as you take our walking class and learn how to collect mesquite beans.

Improve your mesquite pod harvesting awareness through this annual refresher class. Depending on the weather and the trees, you might even be able to start your harvest.

  • How to identify native mesquite trees.
  • How to taste test your mesquite pods to get the flavors you like.
  • When and how to harvest the pods safely.
  • Tricks on on how to collect pods easier.
  • And we will chat about how to dry and store the pods until they are milled!
