An Introduction to Backyard Animals

Intentionally integrating animals and insects into your urban farming environment is a fun, useful and rewarding way to bring balance and value to your urban farm.

Bees and other insects are an integral part of the pollination process.  Decomposers like ants and worms aerate dirt and create usable organic matter for plants.  Predatory insects control pest populations, and many of them are pollinators and decomposers, too. Chickens turn earth with their feet, eat pests and weeds and add to the joyfulness of your urban farm. Goats clear brush and eradicate invasive weeds, and are great for soil building and carbon sequestration. Fish create nutrients that are ideal for feeding plants and amending soils. For many farmers that choose to eat meat, they find this to be a far more honorable way to raise the animals that provide healthful nourishment for their families and community. Whether or not you choose to consume the eggs, milk or meat of your animals, they bring about balance and much needed help in your environment. We truly could not do this without them.

UFU.2016.HousingAnimalsJoin me for a free 90-minute webinar, where I will show you how you can promote biodiversity on your urban farm, AND how to put insects and animals to work to enhance your property while improving your vegetable and fruit production, too!  The information that I have to share with you will elevate the nutritional, physical and financial health of your family, and create a regenerative system that becomes more productive over time.

In this free webinar, we will begin exploring the exhaustive list of animals and insects that can be a great addition to your urban farm, and well as the many ways they can contribute.  And if you have no room for fish, chickens or goats, we’ll explore options for obtaining the benefits without raising them yourself.

Chickens, Goats, and More: An Introduction to Backyard Animals reveals how to confidently team up with nature to reduce the costs and labor associated with urban farming, and to raise and grow wholesome, organic food, as it was always intended.

You’ll be delighted with the bounty that you can create, whether you have a small yard or acres!
