  • Told all my FB friends about this group. I'm super excited to talk with other people who are interested in Aquaponics. We have an unused aquarium in our house. The main reason it was unused was we didn't like cleaning it. How cool that we could use plants to filter the water and the fish waste to feed the plants!??! LOVE IT

Aquaponics is a hybrid food production system that combines a traditional aquaculture (raising fish in tanks) with hydroponics (cultivating plants in water) in a symbiotic environment. In the aquaculture, effluents from the fish accumulate in the water, increasing toxicity for the fish. This water is pumped to a hydroponic system where the byproducts from the fish are filtered out by the plants and used as nutrients, cleaning the water and then recirculating it back to the fish. Aquaponic systems vary in size from small indoor and outdoor units to large commercial unit. Join us for conversation about how you can make your own aquaponics system.

Anyone out there good with a welder, I need someone to weld up some metal for a frame. When that is done I can add fish and plants.
